Hi, my name is Anita Roy. I have proudly called this community home for the past 20 years. My family and I have built our lives here, and I am passionate about serving the people who make this neighbourhood such a great place to live.
I hold a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Before moving to Canada, I worked as a teacher in a higher secondary school in India for 15 years and later served as an Assistant Teacher in the Louis Riel School Division.
For the past 20 years, I have dedicated my career to nursing and caring for our community. I began my nursing career in a personal care home and then worked at St. Amant Centre for seven years. I have also worked with the WRHA Respite Program, St. Boniface General Hospital, and as a Community Nurse in the Fort Garry area. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I served at the Fort Garry COVID-19 Testing Centre. Today, I continue to serve our community as a Home Care Nurse with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA). I have also had the privilege of mentoring future healthcare professionals as a Clinical Practicum Instructor for Licensed Practical Nurses.
I am committed to lifelong learning and leadership. I completed the Indigenous Canada Certificate through the University of Alberta, leadership and management studies through the University of Toronto, and have participated in numerous workshops on Indigenous culture and Truth and Reconciliation.
Giving back to the community has always been important to me. I served two terms as a volunteer Board Director with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba and currently serve as a volunteer Board of Director with the Canadian Nurses Protective Society in Ottawa.
I believe that strong communities are built through listening, collaboration, and service. I am committed to bringing those values to City Council and working hard to make our neighbourhood an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
Bonjour, je m’appelle Anita Roy. Je suis fière de vivre dans cette communauté depuis 20 ans. Ma famille et moi y avons bâti notre vie, et je suis animée par la passion de servir les gens qui font de ce quartier un endroit où il fait si bon vivre.
J’ai une maîtrise en administration publique et d’un baccalauréat en éducation. Avant de m’installer au Canada, j’ai travaillé comme enseignante dans une école secondaire supérieure en Inde pendant 15 ans, puis j’ai occupé le poste d’enseignante adjointe au sein de la division scolaire Louis Riel.
Depuis 20 ans, je consacre ma carrière aux soins infirmiers et à l’accompagnement de notre communauté. J’ai débuté ma carrière d’infirmière dans un établissement de soins personnalisés, puis j’ai travaillé au Centre St. Amant pendant sept ans. J’ai également travaillé au sein du programme de répit de la WRHA, à l’hôpital général de Saint-Boniface, ainsi qu’en tant qu’infirmière de proximité dans le quartier de Fort Garry. Pendant la pandémie de COVID-19, j’ai travaillé au centre de dépistage COVID-19 de Fort Garry. Aujourd’hui, je continue à servir notre communauté en tant qu’infirmière à domicile au sein de l’Autorité régionale de santé de Winnipeg (WRHA). J’ai également eu le privilège d’accompagner de futurs professionnels de santé en tant que formatrice en stage clinique pour les infirmiers auxiliaires diplômés.
Je m'engage en l'apprentissage continu et du leadership. J'ai obtenu le certificat « Indigenous Canada » de l'Université de l'Alberta, suivi des études en leadership et en gestion à l'Université de Toronto, et j'ai participé à de nombreux ateliers sur la culture autochtone ainsi que sur la vérité et la réconciliation.
Il m'a toujours tenu à coeur de m'investir au service de la communauté. J'ai effectué deux mandats en tant que membre bénévole du conseil d'administration du Collège des infirmières et infirmiers auxiliaires agréés du Manitoba et je siège actuellement à titre bénévole au conseil d'administration de la Société canadienne de protection des infirmières et infirmiers, à Ottawa.
Je suis convaincu que la solidité d'une communauté repose sur l'écoute, la collaboration et l'engagement au service des autres. Je m'engage à faire valoir ces valeurs au sein du Conseil municipal et à oeuvrer sans relâche pour faire de notre quartier un endroit encore plus agréable où vivre, travailler et élever une famille.
