It was a privilege to attend a wonderful senior get-together in our community, bringing together generations for an afternoon of learning, connection, and shared experiences. As your candidate for St. Norbert - Seine River , I believe that our seniors are the keepers of our community's history, and creating spaces for continued education and dialogue is essential for a thriving city.
Lifelong Learning and Indigenous Perspectives
The event featured insightful presentations by two incredible leaders in education. We were honored to hear from the Honourable Renée Cable , Manitoba’s Minister of Advanced Education and Training, who spoke passionately about the future of education and lifelong learning opportunities in our province.
Additionally, Dr. Shailesh Shukla , Associate Professor of Indigenous Studies at the University of Winnipeg, provided a deeply moving presentation on Indigenous knowledge systems and food sovereignty. His work highlights the vital importance of Indigenous education and the ongoing journey of Truth and Reconciliation in Manitoba.
A Commitment to Our Ward
Events like this remind me why I am running for City Council. A strong St. Norbert - Seine River is one that values its elders, embraces cross-generational learning, and actively supports Indigenous perspectives and community education.
Thank you to the organizers, our seniors for their warm hospitality, and our distinguished guests for sharing their time and knowledge with us. I look forward to continuing these vital conversations at City Hall!
