Championing Community Wellbeing: A Great Conversation with Local Hockey Coach Roger

Location: St. Norbert - Seine River Ward
Candidate: Anita Roy for City Council
Featured Community Builder: Roger (Local Hockey Player & Coach)
Focus: Community Wellbeing, Local Sports, Recreation & Volunteer Support

"Thank you for standing with me and supporting. Your trust and encouragement inspire me to keep moving forward!"

One of the greatest privileges of running for City Council is meeting the dedicated individuals who keep our neighborhoods active, healthy, and connected. I recently had the fantastic opportunity to sit down with Roger, a passionate local hockey player and coach, to have an in-depth discussion about community wellbeing in St. Norbert - Seine River.

The Impact of Sports on Our Neighborhoods

Sports are about so much more than just winning games; they are the foundation of a healthy, thriving community. Coaches like Roger do incredible work behind the scenes—mentoring our youth, teaching teamwork, and providing a safe, positive environment for our kids to grow.

During our conversation, we discussed how vital local sports and recreation are to the overall mental and physical wellbeing of our residents. Whether it’s early morning practices at the local arena or weekend games that bring families together, these activities build the social fabric of our city.

Supporting Our Local Arenas and Volunteers

As your candidate for City Council, I know that a strong municipal government must actively support the facilities and the volunteers that make these programs possible. My vision for St. Norbert - Seine River includes:

  • Maintaining and Upgrading Recreation Facilities: Ensuring our local arenas, community centers, and outdoor rinks are safe, accessible, and well-funded.
  • Supporting Grassroots Coaches & Volunteers: Recognizing the unpaid hours that coaches and parents dedicate to our youth sports programs.
  • Promoting Active Living: Designing neighborhoods that encourage physical activity and outdoor community engagement.

Thank You, Roger!

Roger, thank you for your time, your dedication to our local athletes, and your unwavering support for this campaign. Your trust and encouragement truly inspire me to keep moving forward.

When we invest in our local sports programs and the people who run them, we are investing in the health and happiness of the entire St. Norbert - Seine River community. Let’s keep our community active, healthy, and strong!
