Reconciliation is not just a word; it is an action, a journey, and a shared responsibility. I was deeply honoured to stand alongside Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and community members at the Reconciliation Walk at St. John Park. Walking side-by-side, we shared stories, listened to the lived experiences of Indigenous peoples and took a collective step toward healing and unity.
A Commitment to an Inclusive City Hall
As a candidate for City Councillor in St. Norbert - Seine River, I believe that municipal government must play an active role in Truth and Reconciliation. The decisions we make at City Hall-from how we design our public spaces and parks, to how we support local Indigenous businesses and community safety initiatives-must be guided by respect and partnership.
My commitment to you is to build a city where:
- Every Voice is Heard: Ensuring Indigenous communities have a meaningful seat at the table in municipal planning and policy-making.
- Every Community Belongs: Fostering an environment of deep respect, cultural safety and zero tolerance for racism.
- We Keep Learning: Continuing to educate ourselves and our civic institutions on the true history of this land and the ongoing impacts of colonization.
