Generations for a Greener Tomorrow: A Great Conversation with Seniors for Climate
Focus Area: Climate Action & Environmental Sustainability
Candidate: Anita Roy for City Councillor, St. Norbert - Seine River
Focus: Environmental Protection, Sustainable Future, Intergenerational Dialogue
"Had a great conversation with Seniors for Climate about protecting our environment and building a sustainable future. Together, we can create a healthier, greener community for generations to come!"
Some of the wisest voices on climate action come from those who have witnessed our environment change over a lifetime. I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Seniors for Climate-a passionate group of residents dedicated to protecting the planet we all share-for an inspiring conversation about environmental stewardship and the legacy we leave behind.
Wisdom Meets Urgency
Our seniors understand better than anyone that the choices we make today shape the world our children and grandchildren will inherit. During our discussion, we talked about the real, local impacts of climate change-from extreme weather and urban heat to the health of our rivers, parks, and tree canopy-and the practical steps our city must take now.
Building a Healthier, Greener St. Norbert - Seine River
As your City Councillor, I will champion environmental action at the municipal level, including:
- Protecting & Growing Our Urban Forest: Preserving mature trees and expanding green spaces across our ward.
- Sustainable City Operations: Supporting waste reduction, recycling and energy-efficient community facilities.
- Clean Air & Water: Advocating for the protection of the Seine River and our local waterways.
- Climate-Resilient Infrastructure: Preparing our neighbourhoods for extreme weather while keeping communities safe.
- Community-Led Green Initiatives: Empowering resident groups like Seniors for Climate to lead local environmental projects.
